Mike Dailey Guitar & Vocals

Mike Dailey was born June 23rd, 1986 just outside Chicago. For as long as he can remember, he has always loved
music. At age 5, he asked his mom and grandma for his great grandpa’s old guitar. They told him that he could
have it for his sixth birthday. Sure enough, June 23rd, 1992, Mike was given his first guitar. It was very old and hard to
keep in tune but it was his and was the start of something incredible. His mom taught him how to play a “G” chord,
a “C” chord, and a “D” chord. At age 9, he decided to use his guitar to smack his little brother Dave,
on the head. Mom and Dad were not happy (Needless to say). They took away his guitar and put it up in the attic. There it
stayed for 2 years. When Mike was in the 5th grade, he found his guitar and picked up right where he left off with the promise
to his parents that he would not use it as a weapon. During that year Mike also joined the school band, picking up the euphonium
(it looks like a small tuba). It was at this point in his life that Mike began his TRUE musical life.
His parents
must have noticed how bad of shape his old used guitar was in and how much Mike played, because for Christmas of his 6th grade
year, “Santa” Brought Mike a brand new Fender Squire Guitar. From there he picked up a book titled “120
of the most commonly used guitar chords”. Because of his school band affiliation, his guitar playing ability continued
to grow at an extraordinarily fast rate. By the time he finished high school, Mike had 3 guitars, 3 amps, an effects processer,
multiple distortion pedals, and many different cables. He also had written 3 very good songs that he really wanted to record.
It took over a year, but finally, with the help of his uncle playing the bass, he and his band “Unifyed”
released the 7 song Extended Play, “Stuck Here in Time”. This disc included 2 of Mike’s original songs “The
Darkness” and “My Old Friend” as well as several other songs that he co-wrote with his Uncle, Don Logsdon.
Soon after recording, Mike’s aunt, Shelly, Gave birth to Mike’s little cousin, Donnie, and Unifyed was finished.
After that, Mike sold most of his gear. With all but his acoustic guitar gone, Mike took a break from music for a few
years. In August 2009, Don called Mike and said “It’s time to make some music”. So with his acoustic guitar
and a lot of fresh ideas, Mike and Don got to work reviewing some old material and also creating some new music. This was
kind of short lived due to extenuating circumstances. So, again, Mike was alone. During this time, he focused on learning
cover songs and playing open mic nights.
It wasn’t until September 2010, after meeting Kevan Bauman, AKA
“BAU DOWN”, that Mike considered getting into the music scene seriously. Although Kevan’s style of music
was completely different than what Mike was accustomed to, for some reason, he was drawn to the sound and before he knew it,
Kevan had asked Mike to record guitar and backup vocals on his GREATEST HITS album titled “MAGNUM OPUS”
which was released and available for purchase in Mid-December 2010. This was the beginning of a music partnership that neither
Mike nor Kevan had ever experienced. They have created a name for the group that they had become. Saved By Sunday or, SxS.
When Mike is not working on music, he enjoys spending time with his two daughter, Meredith.
Although things did not work out with his wife Mindy, they remain good friends. Mike also spends much of his time volunteering
his time, talents and gifts at his church, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Palatine, IL. Not only does Mike work with Kevan
on a professional level, they also work together to lead the High School Youth Ministry (FUEL) Praise Band. Mike also helps
lead a group of 7th grade boys that are going through the church’s Confirmation program. Mike has always been strong
in his faith and he thoroughly enjoys sharing that with others and helping with teaching students about God and what He does
in OUR everyday lives. Actually, when Mike and Kevan met, they were both leaders on a Jr. High retreat for Prince of Peace
and Mike was leading all the music for the trip.
Mike loves music with a passion that is immeasurable. For as long
as he can remember, music has been such a profound and prominent part of his life. He will admit that there are many musicians
out there that are better than him, yet that only motivates him to work harder to strive to be the best that he can be. For
Mike, music isn't about how many albums he can sell or how many people come to a show. For him, it is about finding a means
to express what he feels and sharing that with as many people who are willing to listen. His smooth voice combined with amazing
talent as a guitarist, have made him what he is today. With the upcoming release of his first SOLO album, Tell Me Everything
that is scheduled for a summer 2011 release, Mike is arduously working on writing new, better, music that will be appreciated
by audiences everywhere.
