Bau Down - Biography

Let's be honest, nowadays musicians come a dime a dozen, especially when it comes to the internet. There are thousands
of artists that all look, act and sound alike. Quite frankly, there is no way to avoid the fact that most of them have no
talent, and are simply just trying to imitate those who really do.
Bau Down is among those select few extremely
talented musicians, who continue to set musical trends. In a world where most artists make music to fit the mold and be accepted,
this man dares be a light, break standards and be different.
Born Kevan Bauman, a twin to Carsten Bauman in Memphis,
TN on August 11th, 1982 - it was evident that he was destined to become a star. Looking back, it is quite clear being raised
in a Christian household, with an extremely talented musical family was all the reason in the world to join the parade.
As a youngster, he spent much of his time listening to all types of music, acting in musicals, and hanging around
his grandfather’s recording studio. As time passed, his involvement in sports and other activities in high school led
to music taking a backseat for the time being.
It wasn’t until high school came to an end that he really
decided to take music seriously and pursue it as career. While a full-time student at Concordia College New York, and Valparaiso
University Indiana, his unrivaled dedication set in as he spent the majority of his free time writing, composing and recording
music while everyone else was living the College life.
All his hard work finally paid off in 2007, when he linked
up with fellow musician and friend FAM, striking gold with the creative hit single and anthem, "Take Me Out" which
featured the beloved Chicago Cubs announcer Harry Caray. It was the first of many songs that people really came to love leading
to an overwhelming amount of exposure on internet radio, blogs and social networking avenues like myspace and facebook.
In just about 8 years working as a serious musician, Bau Down has literally done it all, and truly made his mark as
one of today's elite musicians. Besides the fact that he writes and records all of his original music, he sets the standard
as a producer as well.
Since his very beginnings, Bau Down has acted as his own producer - learning the art of
composing instrumentals, engineering, mixing and mastering, and really developing an overall ear for quality music. His music
has come very far, but nowadays it is safe to say he truly does set the standard for the way great music is supposed to sound.
With a strong belief in creating music with meaning, that will stand the tests of time, Bau Down takes great pride
in every lyric he writes, melody he composes and record he records. He makes it very clear than unlike many people out there,
he does not create music for any other reason than just the love of its creation, and hoping somebody somewhere can enjoy
and relate to his records.
His fresh style and perfect mixture of rap and sing blows most listeners away. Creating
a style all his own has really attracted fans, and his music has literally become self-promoting. With over 1,000,0000 unsolicited
website hits, close to 1,000,000 authentic myspace plays, and over 900,000 authentic myspace page views total, he has truly
been fortunate to be discovered and promoted by thousands of loyal fans via word of mouth and the internet.
All
numbers aside, it is clear that he’s doing something right. In the past few years, there have been numerous record label
executives, talent scouts, producers, musicians and media personnel continually in pursuit of business relations with him.
Through it all, he has found and surrounded himself with great like minded people, but seems to be doing just fine without
anyone’s help.
While he has been and will remain humbly appreciative of every opportunity that comes his
way, Bau Down continually stands firm with the mentality that until anyone can offer to do something for him in which he cannot
do for himself, he will reap the vast benefits of doing everything in house, and enjoy being an independent musician with
the entire world at his fingertips.

Bau Down - Autobiography

Who am I? - Good question. I go by the name of Bau Down, but my real name is Kevan Michael Bauman. Born in Memphis,
TN but nowadays rep the Chicago, IL area.
On a personal level, I didn't come into this world alone. I was born
with a twin brother named Carsten. However, due to health complications, he passed away 8 months later. I never hesitate to
tell his story, and couldnt be more proud about doing so, because he never had a chance to. Though today I may be missing
my other half, I feel his strength everyday of my life in everything I do, and his spirit helps me write our life story.
On a lighter note, I'd love to tell ya I live a normal life, but I don't.
I graduated high school
from Glenbook South, and recently graduated from college at Valparaiso University. Though I learned alot, and loved every
minute of it, I only went to school because it's the smart thing to do. My real passion is music, I LOVE everything about
it. It drives me in everything I do and through hard work everyday, that is what I intend to make my lifelong career.
I really feel like I was born for this. I rap and sing, I write and make beats, I DJ, I produce, mix and master...and
ain't shy about saying I'm one of the hardest working and dopest dudes out there. Hopefully ya'll think so too. Been doing
it now for about 8 years. Started as something I kinda liked, then over the years grew into something I loved and couldn't
live without.
I have accomplished alot over time - including releasing a bunch of very successful albums and
mixtapes, performing at big name shows, developing a real loyal fanbase and believe it or not have even turned down contracts
with major record labels (which due to legal reasons will remain annonymous) for thinking they know what's best for me and
my career. Ballzy? Maybe...but I still believe it was the best decision for me. I've learned being unsigned can be pretty
bomb if ya mind and grind is right.
Plus, it's true...success really is all in the eye of the beholder. In my
eyes, though I havent scored a Billboard number 1 hit, taken the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine or anything yet, I do amazing
things and make successful moves everyday.
Do I know what's best for my career and getting to where I wanna go?
Who knows, I really think I do. I've learned and grown alot over time and am extremely confident in who I am, my musical talent,
and where I'm headed. I've also only surrounded myself with great like minded and motivated people, that I am extremely loyal
to. But, I'm very independant and have learned not to depend on anyone else for anything. Feel me?
Like I said
before, I love music. I'm well rounded and have an appreciation for every kind you can think of. If you peep my ipod, its
got everything from 2Pac, Dave Matthews Band and Michael Jackson -- to Tiesto, Nirvana and Taylor Swift. I love it all!
I am a proud Christian, and have truly given my life to God. Let me make it very clear when I say that I would not
be anyone, or anything without him in my heart and soul. I don't do drugs and don't swear in my rhymes, cause I don't need
to. I also try my best not to swear in general...but I'm nowhere near perfect, and I'm not here to judge the people that do.
I try everyday of my life to be the best person I can be, and make a positive impact on the world. Most people
wouldn't guess it, but because of my strong faith, I am waiting until marriage to have sex. Yep, and as you can imagine, that
ain't no walk in the park. But, it is very important to me...something I believe very strongly in...and will totally be worth
it one day.
Let's see, in my free time, when I have it...other than my music and some modeling, I hit the gym
hard, eat subway, watch nat geo, history channel and destroy people in mariokart, smash brothers, nba live, madden, basically
I own at pretty much all video games, and also bags and beer pong.
I am very blessed. There isn't a day that
passes by that I don't realize how fortunate I truly am. My family and friends are more than amazing. I'm so thankful for
all of them and I wouldn't be the person I am without them all. My fans are the best in the world, real talk, and wouldn't
be who and where I'm at without them. I wanna thank ya'll for reading, I hope ya enjoy my music as much as I do! -Bau
